Leo knew his talent—since age ten, he could remember every sentence he read. The second page showed a hand-drawn map pointing to a certain district in the big city labeled 'Sycamore Library.'
The train arrived in the big city. Leo stepped out, stunned by the scene before him. Skyscrapers stood like a steel forest, and the crowds moved like ants. He held the map tightly, winding through the busy streets. He walked for a long time, reaching the old district, but the Sycamore Library from the map was nowhere to be found.
Leo asked passersby for directions, but no one knew where the Sycamore Library was.Exhausted and hungry, he had no choice but to sit down and rest on a roadside seat.
An old man passed by, saw the map, and stopped. 'Sycamore Library?' the old man asked. 'That place closed fifty years ago. I only know it's related to an ancient sycamore tree. Find the sycamore tree, and you'll find the library.' Then, the old man hurried away.
Leo walked around the old district again and again, finally discovering the sycamore tree at the end of a small alley. Suddenly, a deep, warm voice came from behind: 'How did you get in?' Leo turned and saw a man. He looked like a university professor in his gray suit, but he was quite strong and tall. 'My name is Edmund,' the man said with a smile.
Edmund explained that he was the manager and a literature professor. 'Finding this place shows you have the gift of a Book Whisperer,' he said. He tested Leo by pointing to a random character in a book. Leo answered instantly: 'Page 72, line 8, the 3rd character.' Edmund smiled.
Edmund led Leo to the deepest part of the library and handed him a thick book. 'This is the Blank Book,' he said. Leo opened it, but every page was blank. Edmund explained that the book automatically records important events in the city, but only true Book Whisperers can solve its puzzles.
As Leo flipped to page twelve, he saw blurry, almost invisible text. He leaned close and made out the words: 'Sycamore tree, library, basement...' Leo's eyes lit up. 'Grandfather left clues in the basement! !'
Edmund led Leo to the backyard and found the basement entrance. On the door hung a strange lock engraved with the same symbol as on Leo's notebook. Edmund said: 'This is the lock. But what's the code?' Leo looked at the symbol and suddenly remembered the map from the notebook.
Leo found a string of numbers on the map at the sycamore tree's position: 199512. He tried pressing the numbers on the lock—'click,' it opened. The basement was filled with old books and clutter. Edmund turned on a flashlight, illuminating the entire dusty space as they stepped inside.
Leo discovered a striking book with a golden cover and a star pattern. He read the first page: 'To future Book Whisperer—this book records all the secrets of the Sycamore Library, but it requires three people's strength to open.' Leo was confused. 'Three people?' he asked Edmund.Just then, a girl stepped in.
