One by one, the eggs cracked open, and fluffy yellow ducklings waddled out. But one egg, much larger than the others, remained stubbornly still.

Finally, the big egg split open, and out tumbled a gray, gangly creature. 'What an odd child,' Mother Duck sighed, looking at the large, clumsy bird.

The other ducklings snickered and teased the newcomer. They called it the 'Ugly Duckling' because it looked so different from the rest of the family.

The farm animals were just as cruel, clucking and honking in scorn. The Ugly Duckling hid among the reeds, wondering why it was so different.

Unable to bear the taunts any longer, the Ugly Duckling fled the farm. It wandered into a vast marsh, hoping to find a place where it could be accepted.

As autumn arrived, the Ugly Duckling saw a flock of magnificent white birds soaring overhead. 'If only I could be like them,' it thought in awe.

Winter came, cruel and biting. The Ugly Duckling shivered in the marsh, its thin feathers no match for the freezing winds and icy water.

A kind farmer rescued the frozen bird and brought it to his warm cottage. But the terrified duckling accidentally caused a mess and fled back into the cold.

When spring finally arrived, the ice melted and the world bloomed. The Ugly Duckling reached a clear lake and bent down to take a drink.

In the water's reflection, it saw not a scruffy gray bird, but a graceful swan with snow-white feathers! It could hardly believe its own eyes.

The transformation was complete. The swan joined the others, finally finding where it truly belonged. It was the most beautiful swan of all.
