1.A Morning Surprise
Little Bear woke up and stretched his fuzzy arms. He tried to say 'Good morning!' to the sunbeams, but only a tiny squeak came out. His big, rumbling roar was gone!
He found Mama Bear gathering berries. 'Mama,' he squeaked, 'my roar is gone!' Mama Bear smiled and said, 'Sometimes voices need a rest. Let's go find it.'
They walked past the tall trees and the babbling brook. Little Bear stayed very quiet, listening to the sounds of the forest while they looked for his lost roar.
Little Bear saw a bright red ladybug on a leaf. 'Hello, ladybug!' he squeaked. The ladybug waved its legs, but Little Bear's voice was still just a tiny sound.
High above, a fluffy white cloud looked just like a bunny. 'Hello, bunny cloud!' Little Bear squeaked. The cloud floated by, and Little Bear sighed softly.
Suddenly, they heard a happy 'Hoo-hoo!' A wise old owl blinked down from a branch. 'Little Bear,' hooted the owl, 'what is the matter?'
Little Bear squeaked his story to the owl. The owl chuckled. 'Try thinking of something that makes you very, very happy,' the wise bird advised.
Little Bear closed his eyes. He thought of Mama Bear's warm hugs. He thought of chasing colorful butterflies in the sun-drenched meadow.
He thought of sweet, golden honey and playing games with his friends. He took a very deep breath, feeling all that happiness inside his chest.
Then, out came the biggest, loudest, happiest ROAR! 'ROOOOAR!' Little Bear giggled and jumped for joy. His wonderful roar was finally back!
