Jack, a poor farmer’s son, led his only cow to market. They were running out of food, and it was a sad journey for them both.
At the bustling market, Jack met a mysterious stranger. Jack traded their cow for a handful of shiny, unusual beans. 'Magic beans,' the stranger promised.
Jack’s mother was furious when he returned without the cow, only beans. Angrily, she threw the beans out the window into the garden. Jack looked sadly at the bare earth.
The next morning, Jack awoke to an astonishing sight! Overnight, the beans had sprouted into a towering beanstalk that reached impossibly high into the clouds.
Filled with courage, Jack began to climb the enormous beanstalk. Each step took him higher into the sky, until the village below looked like a tiny toy.
At the very top, Jack stepped onto a fluffy cloud and discovered a magnificent castle. Inside, a giant slept soundly, his snores rumbling like thunder.
Jack tiptoed past the sleeping giant. He spotted a chest overflowing with gold coins and carefully grabbed a heavy bag. The coins clinked softly, but the giant did not stir.
Further inside, Jack found a special hen perched in a golden nest. With a gentle cluck, the hen laid a glittering golden egg right before his eyes! Jack carefully took it.
Then, a beautiful golden harp in the corner began to play by itself, filling the room with sweet music. Jack knew he had to have it and gently lifted it.
Suddenly, the giant stirred and awoke! “Fee-fi-fo-fum! I smell the blood of an Englishman!” he roared, his enormous eyes opening with fury.
Jack ran, clutching the bag of gold, the hen, and the magic harp. He slid down the beanstalk as fast as he could, the giant's thunderous roars echoing behind him.
Reaching the ground, Jack seized an axe. With all his strength, he chopped the base of the beanstalk. The giant tumbled from the clouds, crashing to the earth with a thunderous roar.
Jack’s mother ran out, her face filled with relief. “You’re alive!” she cried, embracing him tightly. Jack set down his treasures, smiling with exhaustion and triumph.
With the golden eggs and the magic harp, Jack and his mother never worried about hunger again. Their home was filled with warmth, beautiful music, and much laughter.
